Dinner at GARÇON Bistro & Bar - Plaza Senayan


Other than celebrating Christmas, I packed my December by lunch or dinner dates with friends and family. One of my pick for a pre-Christmas dinner a few days ago was this Parisian bistro-bar-patisserie called GARÇON, located on the 4th level of Plaza Senayan. Garçon literally means 'boy' in French, and based on my cheat sheet, as the name suggests GARÇON is all about exploring the delights of youth. Let's take a look inside.


You might imagine 'classic' when we are talking about a Parisian bistro, but GARÇON has this modern, edgy, yet still classy feel. Everything was fine about the interior, even the lighting was also fine, you know sometimes the lighting at this kind of bistro was way too dark. The only thing that bothered me was I could still smell the smokes from the smoking area although I sat at the most inside part of the room.




GARÇON dining menu consisted of several starters, pastas & risottos, mains, steaks, and desserts selections. After having quite a difficult time picking what should I eat for dinner, finally I made my decision.

Complimentary Bread

I love their bread and butter. That chewy outside soft inside kind of bread with their herbs topped butter were really a good pair.

Caesar Salad - IDR 80,000 (excluding tax & service)

This Caesar Salad à la mode Garçon came in quite a moderate portion to share. It was a mix of fresh vegetables, cheese, and what made it quite different was the bread crumb battered half boiled egg. I'm not a salad person, so yes, for sure it wasn't my order, but actually this salad was quite enjoyable even for me.

And yes, this one was my pick. Wagyu Burger consisted of rossini with foie gras, caramelized onions, and french fries.

So from what I read, rossini is a French steak dish in which the beef is pan-fried in the butter and topped with a hot slice of fresh whole foie gras, garnished with slices of black truffle and finished with a Madeira demi-glace sauce. And if you wonder how the Wagyu Burger tasted like? It was good! The wagyu beef was super tender and juicy, the brown sauce was pretty strong and bold, combinated really well with tomatoes, pickles, and onions. I think this was a good pick.

Lamb Shoulder - IDR 178,000 (excluding tax & service)

Actually, at first I was kinda confused to pick between the Wagyu Burger or this Lamb Shoulder. Fortunately, my fried had the same dilemma, so we just, "Let's order both and have a taste on each later". The Lamb Soulder was served on the top of mashed potato with braised vegetables. The Lamb Shoulder was also good! Super tender, and the sauce wasn't too strong. 

Regular Iced Tea - IDR 35,000 (excluding tax & service)

I'm quite satisfied with the food, and the place itself was pretty nice also. GARÇON is a nice place for a dinner date, not so often though or I'll be broke pretty soon.
