A Quick Lunch at Union Deli (Grand Indonesia)

Setiap saya ke Grand Indonesia, selalu ada tempat baru yang belum pernah saya lihat sebelumnya. Kebanyakan tempat-tempat baru ini berlokasi di East Mall dekat dengan department store yang juga cukup baru yaitu Central. Suatu Minggu siang, saya mampir ke Union Deli yang terletak persis di sebelah Central. Saat itu masih jam 12 kurang, dan saya langsung mendapatkan meja. Hanya saja waktu kami duduk dibatasi sampai jam 1 siang, karena tempatnya telah direservasi. Nampaknya Union Deli yang satu grup dengan Union dan Loewy ini sudah memiliki banyak penggemar walaupun masih cukup baru.

Di bagian depan Union Deli terdapat cake display yang cukup menggoda iman, namun pada kunjungan saya kemarin, saya belum mencoba cake-nya, maybe on my next visit. Restoran bertema industrial dan berkesan vintage ini ukurannya tidak terlalu besar dan berkonsep open kitchen. A nice place to sit and chat (apalagi kalau waktunya tidak dibatasi).

Bagel with Plain Cream Cheese - IDR 40,000 ++

I tried their bagel, and I gotta say it was good! Bagel-nya disajikan dengan house made cream cheese yang rasanya agak asam, dan cukup padat, really went well with their warm and chewy bagel.

Barbecue Roast Chicken - IDR 95,000 ++

My Barbecue Roast Chicken came with french fries, coleslaw, and creamed corn. I wasn't really satisfied with this one, the barbecue sauce was too much, too sweet for my liking. And for sure, the portion was too little for me (I ended up eating a bowl of spaghetti after this meal. Sebenarnya saya juga masih bingung, antara porsinya kurang, atau nafsu makan saya yang terlalu besar.)

Union Burger, Bacon, Aged Cheddar, Fries, w/ Foie Gras - IDR 140,000 ++

On the other hand, the burger was great, thick patty, lovely buns.

. Yes, this place is quite pricey (IDR 300,000 - 400,000 for two persons), but I still want to try their cakes. Overall, I kinda love the atmosphere of this place, but I better visit Union Deli on a less crowded time.
